The Stepping Stones educational team is committed to offering a high quality individualized educational path for each Stepping Stones student.  The educational path for each student begins with assessing their present levels of functioning and developing an individualized plan which may include an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 504, and/or Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).  

Stepping Stones teachers use evidenced-based instructional strategies to create a fun and engaging learning environment in which our students can thrive and meet their full potential.  Our programming relies on differentiation to meet individual needs, and ongoing consistent progress monitoring is used to inform our teachers’ instructional decisions.  ABA therapy support ensures that our students develop positive behavioral skills that enable them to access their individualized educational programming.  Our parents receive regular updates on their child’s progress at a monthly progress update meeting.  The Stepping Stones combination of evidence-based instruction, multidisciplinary collaboration, and a positive and joyful learning environment ensure that Stepping Stones students walk their individual path to success.

Specialized Therapeutic Learning Settings

  • Each classroom will consist of one qualified special education teacher and a maximum of 10 students with individualized therapy support for each student.  Our small class sizes and intensive support will ensure a positive learning experience for each student.

Team Approach 

  • Every student will be supported by a team that includes a Special Education teacher, a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst), a group of classroom RBTs (Registered Behavior Technicians), and an evaluation specialist. Speech and occupational therapy are also available for students who qualify for these additional services.  Our highly skilled team will work in collaboration with our families to provide a high quality educational experience that meets the needs of the whole child. 


One-on-one Support

  • The students will have a whole team of RBTs assigned to their classroom, and each of the RBTs on the team will have extensive knowledge of the programming for all students in the classroom.  The RBTs will work as a team to ensure that each new student has one-on-one support throughout their school day.


Needs-based Support

  • A comprehensive evaluation will be provided for every student.  Our highly skilled team will then develop an individualized support plan, such as an IEP, BIP, or 504, that will address individual needs for the student. Each support plan will be written with the goal of helping our students to reach their full potential at Stepping Stones.



  • Each student will be taught skills that will enable them to be active participants in the school environment and their education.  The Stepping Stones staff will intentionally and consistently encourage and help our students to fully engage in the wide variety of social opportunities and academic activities within the Stepping Stones school environment.

Skill Generalization

  • Our ultimate goal at Stepping Stones is to help each child develop needed academic, social, emotional, and communication skills to thrive both in and out of the classroom.  These skills will serve as keys to open many doors of opportunity in a wide variety of additional environments for our students!
